From the last pick to the highest rated qb ever on Mon night. This is a full stop moment folks. Jackson is at 102 and Brock 105. Unreal. Congrats Bock

Yep MNF prime time moment, can't wait for the highlight clip and Brock to get praise

The OLine and the RB's better pick up the Washington blitzes on monday night. The last thing we need is Brock getting hit by Sonney Styles or Frankie Luvu when he's throwing.

They're balling. If they blitz, the results won't be pretty

Has to be sarcasm.
Purdy the highest rated passer in NFL history while playing against the refs more than anyone else, too. Because of course he is.

I thought the joke was pretty obvious.

Automatic

Lol is Joe Buck going to also say automatic? It's his fave word after all or one of them
Just for some context, it's not easy being a QB playing against the most dominant defenses in the league. Brock played the leagues two best defenses back to back.

I wondered how Joe and Steve performed against the league's top defenses, 80's bears and 90's Giants came to mind. Here's what I found:

?1. Joe Montana vs. Historic Defenses

?vs. The 1984 Chicago Bears ?1984 NFC Championship Game (Jan 6, 1985): ?Stats: 18/34 (52.9%), 233 YDS, 1 TD, 2 INT, 60.0 Passer Rating ?

Context: Although San Francisco won 23–0 on the strength of their defense, Montana was held to a low completion percentage and threw two interceptions against the Bears. .

?vs. The 1985–1986 Chicago Bears ?Week 6, 1985 (Oct 13, 1985): 20/39 (51.3%), 214 YDS, 1 TD, 2 INT, 54.9 Passer Rating (Lost 26–10) ?Week 15, 1986 (Dec 14, 1986): 13/28 (46.4%), 176 YDS, 0 TD, 1 INT, 52.1 Passer Rating (Lost 10–0)

vs. The 1985–1990 New York Giants (Playoff Games)
Across three playoff matchups against the Big Blue Wrecking Crew defense during their prime, Montana was 0–3.

1985 NFC Wild Card Game (Dec 29, 1985):
Stats: 26/47 (55.3%), 296 YDS, 0 TD, 1 INT (Scored just 3 points)

1986 NFC Divisional Game (Jan 4, 1987):
Stats: 8/15 (53.3%), 98 YDS, 0 TD, 2 INTs (1 returned for TD), 34.2 Passer Rating (Lost 49–3)

1990 NFC Championship Game (Jan 20, 1991):
Stats: 18/26 (69.2%), 190 YDS, 1 TD, 0 INT, 103.0 Passer Rating (Knocked out in 4th quarter; lost 15–13)

Joe Montana's Averages in these 6 Iconic Matchups:
Completions / Attempts: ~18 for 32 (54.5%)
Passing Yards: ~201 YDS/game
TD / INT Ratio: 3 TDs / 8 INTs
Average Passer Rating: ~62.0

2. Steve Young vs. Historic Defenses ?vs. The 1988–1990 Chicago Bears ?1988 NFC Championship Game (Jan 8, 1989): ?Did not start; relieved Montana briefly. ?

Week 8, 1988 (Oct 24, 1988): 11/24 (45.8%), 118 YDS, 0 TD, 1 INT, 38.2 Passer Rating (Lost 10–9)

?vs. The 1990–1993 New York Giants ?Week 13, 1990 ("Game of the Century" - Dec 3, 1990): ?Young backed up Montana, but later faced the Giants in 1991 as the primary starter. ?

Week 1, 1991 (Sep 2, 1991): ?Stats: 12/22 (54.5%), 162 YDS, 1 TD, 1 INT, 74.4 Passer Rating (Lost 16–14) ?

1993 NFC Divisional Playoff (Jan 15, 1994): ?Stats: 17/30 (56.7%), 226 YDS, 0 TD, 1 INT, 69.6 Passer Rating (SF won 44–3 led by Ricky Watters' 5 rushing TDs) ?

Steve Young's Averages in Key Starts vs. Era-Defining Defenses:

?Completions / Attempts: ~13 for 25 (52.0%) ?Passing Yards: ~168 YDS/game ?TD / INT Ratio: 1 TD / 3 INTs ?Average Passer Rating: ~60.7

My only point here is that all QBs, even great QBs, look pedestrian against historically good defenses.

When playing a stingy D, the best QBs are great game managers who don't take unnecessary risks.

I think Brock is at that point now. In previous years, Brock would try to play hero ball at stressful points and put the ball in harms way. This years INTs have been him putting the ball in a spot and the WR not being there.
